Between Purim and Pesach in 2023, I stayed in a BNB one night in a town called Yehudah Ben OR (Yehudah Son of Light). I was hungry, so I walked to the marketplace to buy some groceries.

Then I saw her. She was a young, beautiful soldier, in uniform, maybe 22-24 years old. She was walking with two of her young women friends, who were wearing civilian clothes, one to her left and the other to her right.

I was walking along the sidewalk, while they were crossing the street diagonally, longways. As if they were walking along the hypotenuse of an imaginary irregular triangle formed by splitting the rectangular section of the street they crossed into two right triangles with unequal side lengths.

I saw how lovely she was, and I fell into a trance-like state as I considered her beauty. She glanced in my direction, and our eyes met for only a few moments, and we passed each other. I walked for about another ten or fifteen feet, stopped, turned around, looking as she and her friends walked on. I was still mentally admiring her as they walked on. Suddenly, she stopped walking, turned around, looked at me, and our eyes met. There seemed to be a light extending over both of us like a large dome, radiating outward from us as we gazed into each other’s eyes, and she began walking directly towards me. I was in a trance-like state, sensing her aura as she walked some thirty-five feet towards me, all the while I was admiring this angel’s loveliness.

This was when the reality of my circumstances became clear, and I came to my senses. At that time, my divorce was incomplete, I was more than twice the lovely angel’s age, and I didn’t speak Modern Hebrew. So, I made the only sane choice: I smiled, turned, and left. At that time, I only knew a few biblical Hebrew blessings by heart, so as I walked away, I quietly blessed her and prayed for her protection.

Obviously, I still think about encountering an angel in the Holy Land, and when I do, I still pray for her protection. This happened before October 11, 2023. I hope she is safe; I pray that she is safe, and may she find her soulmate and be everlastingly blessed!
