II was having a conversation with a woman friend about our pets growing old, losing their health, dying or having to be “Put down.”

I said to her, “It’s hard as an adult when you have an animal friend. My 12 and a half-year-old German Short Haird pointer, lost his hearing, his cancer came back with a vengeance, it was hard to choose to have the veterinarian put him out of his misery!

 It was so much easier owning cats and dogs when I was a child. None of my childhood pets ever died, then merely ran away and were never found again.”
